DISCUSSION - Developing Georgia's migration policy: lessons from Poland 26.07.2012

On December 21 2011 CIPDD and the Polish Institute of Public Affairs (IPA) have organized a discussion on ‘Developing Georgia's migration policy: lessons from Poland’ in Tbilisi, at the Holiday Inn. This event was the part of the IPA and CIPDD joint project co-financed by the Polish development cooperation programme 2011 of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland. The aim of the project is to improve the standards of creating and implementing Georgian policy in the area of border control and migrations through identifying areas for improvement in the Georgian migration management and sharing the best practices of Polish institutions.

 


The purpose of the 21 December event was not only to share outcomes of the IPA/CIPDD joint work, but also to discuss needs for further EU, international, bilateral assistance in migration policy development and implementation and learn about participant institutions’ recent related initiatives. Piotr Kazmierkiewicz, expert/researcher, Institute of Public Affairs and Tiko Tkeshealshvili, a CIPDD project coordinator have presented respectively Polish experience in development of migration policy and overview of a migration policy development process in Georgia.  
As a result of the IPA and CIPDD project has been produced a report.
